Move over, Margarita! This spicy, boozy tea cocktail makes the perfect sidekick to your favorite Mexican meal. Teatulia®’s brisk and refreshing Lemongrass Herbal Tea provides a lemony flavor base for the simple syrup that sweetens the drink. The syrup recipe makes about 2 cups, so you’ll have plenty leftover to make several more cocktails. You can also use the syrup to sweeten other tea cocktails or iced tea concoctions.

Makes 2 cocktails
Ingredients:
For Lemongrass Simple Syrup:
- 2 cups water
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 pyramid tea bags Teatulia Lemongrass Herbal Tea
For cocktails:
- 4 cilantro leaves
- 5 oz. blanco tequila
- 2 oz. Lemongrass Simple Syrup
- ½ oz. fresh lime juice (or more to taste)
- Jalapeño slices for garnish
- Ice cubes
- Soda water, optional
Preparation:
For Lemongrass Simple Syrup: Bring water a boil. Add sugar and tea and stir until sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and allow tea to steep in syrup until it cools to room temperature. Remove tea bags and store syrup in a covered glass container in the refrigerator for up to a month. (Makes about 2 cups syrup.)
For cocktail: Muddle cilantro leaves with a splash of the lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Add tequila, lemongrass simple syrup, remaining lime juice, and a handful of ice cubes. Shake and strain into 2 cocktail glasses. Float one or more thin slices of jalapeño on top for garnish. Top each cocktail with ice, soda water, and a little more lime juice (to taste) if you want to make it a little less boozy.
